Traumatic Brain Injury

This full day class will allow you to discover how traumatic brain injuries (TBI) affect individuals within the long-term care population and how to best care for this population. You will be required to pass a written examination to
receive credit for this course.

The target audience of this class includes caregivers and healthcare providers who will be working with clients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in a long-term care environment.

Key learning objectives includes:

  1. Identify Anatomy of the Brain & Brain Injury Basics.

  2. Understand the basics of brain injury management.

  3. Understand the impact of TBI on behavior, mood and
    cognition.

  4. Develop skills to communicate effectively.

  5. Develop skills to respond effectively to challenging behaviors and to provide smooth day to day care.

 

Course is 8 hours long. Credits can be used for Continuing Education or Population-Specific hours.

This course is WA DSHS approved for credit. This course will be taught online via Zoom and followed by the examination. The examination is given via Zoom.
